SUMMARY:Prop Firearm Safety Class
DESCRIPTION:The TET Fund\, in conjunction with the Local One Sisters’ Committee\, is proud to present a new course on prop firearm safety. Firearms safety is crucial in TV and live theater to protect cast\, crew\, and audiences from serious injury. Even when labeled as a “prop”\, firearms can still discharge harmful projectiles and cause accidents. Strict safety protocols—such as using qualified armorers\, verifying that weapons are unloaded\, and rehearsing within clear safety zones—helps prevent tragedies. Prioritizing safety not only ensures a secure working environment but also demonstrates professionalism and respect for everyone involved in a production.\nWhat to expect:\nA review of basic gun safety on a set; eye\, and ear protection will be provided\, or you can bring your own. Participants will handle a prop weapon in a controlled environment\, and resource materials will also be provided.\nAgain\, to register\, email director@localonetetfund.org\nWe hope you enjoy this training opportunity!

SUMMARY:Delong Rigging Class
DESCRIPTION:The TET Fund has a new course offering for you: Delong Rigging – fundamentals and applied practices. This rigging course is designed for IATSE Local 1 members who want a stronger technical foundation\, clearer decision-making on the floor\, and a deeper understanding of safe\, consistent rigging practices used across various types of venues. Note: seating is limited. \nThis course is well-suited for members looking for a solid refresher\, as well as those who are learning the fundamentals that support safe\, professional rigging work on every call. ETCP Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are available for eligible participants who complete the course. Because the instructors are ETCP-Recognized\, this class counts for double ETCP renewal credit points. \nThe course is led by Tyler DeLong\, ETCP-certified Theatre and Arena Rigger and ETCP-Recognized Trainer\, and founder of DeLong Rigging Solutions\, with instructional support from John DeLong\, also an ETCP-certified Theatre and Arena Rigger and ETCP-Recognized Trainer. With a combined 69 years of experience\, they bring a perspective that bridges modern standards\, applied calculations\, and long-established best practices rooted in real-world theatrical and live-event work. \nInstruction blends focused classroom discussion with practical exercises drawn directly from the realities of Local 1 calls. Topics include rigging terminology\, standard procedures and hardware selection\, applied rigging math for dead hangs and various bridle configurations\, basic beam load concepts\, and unit conversions. The course also addresses fall prevention and fall protection\, relevant standards and codes\, and how to clearly communicate rigging intent and concerns with engineers. Chalk layouts on the floor are used to visualize systems\, load paths\, and force distribution. \nAgain\, to register please email Ryan McDonough at director@localonetetfund.org. Space is limited in this course.
